Lapland Webcams: Live Cameras from Rovaniemi, Santa Claus Village, Levi and More

Live views from Santa Claus Village, Levi, Ylläs, Saariselkä and Pyhä-Luosto play on this page. Rovaniemi city, Ruka, Lake Inari and the FMI aurora cameras do not allow embedding, so they link out to the operator. Every camera below was checked on 2 Nov 2026.

Press play to load a stream. Nothing loads from YouTube until you do, and streams start muted. Local time in Finnish Lapland is EET (UTC+2) in winter. In December the sun is low or absent, so a midday view can be dark or grey; see daylight and polar night dates.

Rovaniemi and Santa Claus Village

The City of Rovaniemi runs the Santa Claus Village stream. The city centre and Ounasvaara views are stills or panorama viewers that stay on the city's and its partners' pages.

Levi

Levi Ski Resort streams eleven cameras on YouTube from its own website. Three of them are embedded here, the rest are one click away.

Saariselkä and Inari

Lapland North Destinations streams a floodlit ski track. The Lake Inari camera is a YouTube stream whose owner has switched embedding off, so it opens on YouTube.

Pyhä-Luosto

Pyhä Ski Resort lists two aurora streams from the fell tops on its webcam page, plus slope panoramas.

Ruka

Ruka's cameras are panorama viewers with weather and an image archive. They have no embed option, so they open on Ruka's site.

Ruka panorama cameras

Operator: Ruka Ski Resort (Rukakeskus)

Eleven panoramas, including Vuosseli Express, the front slopes, Mastonrinne, Talvijärvi and Ruka Park.

Aurora sky cameras

The Finnish Meteorological Institute (FMI) runs all-sky cameras at Kilpisjärvi and Kevo. Per FMI they run in the dark season and only at night, so expect nothing useful in daylight.

Operator: Finnish Meteorological Institute, with Sodankylä Geophysical Observatory

A fish-eye image of the whole sky, taken for aurora research.

How to use webcams to plan

  • Check the snow. Resort cameras at Levi, Ylläs and Pyhä show whether slopes and trails are white, and the summit views show cloud and wind. Our winter weather, snow and daylight guide has the averages by month.
  • Check the sky before an aurora night. A sky camera shows clouds, which decide most aurora plans. Pair it with the forecast in our aurora forecast guide. A camera is not a promise: it shows only what is overhead at that moment.
  • Preview Santa Claus Village. The stream shows the village outdoors. For opening hours, costs and how to visit, read the Santa Claus Village guide.
  • Mind the clock. A dark picture at 12:00 in December is normal. Cameras on the fell tops may also be hidden in cloud or frost.

Lapland webcam questions

Is there a live webcam at Santa Claus Village?
Yes. The City of Rovaniemi streams a live camera from Santa Claus Village on YouTube. It is embedded at the top of our webcam page and also listed on Visit Rovaniemi's webcam page.
What time is it in Lapland when I watch a webcam?
Finnish winter time is Eastern European Time (EET, UTC+2). Webcam clocks and daylight follow local time, so work out the offset from where you are before you open a stream.
Why are Lapland webcams dark at midday in December?
On 15 December the sun is above the horizon for about two and a half hours in Rovaniemi, and in Inari it does not rise at all. Twilight still gives some light around midday, but most cameras look black or grey for much of the day.
Can I see the northern lights on a webcam?
Sometimes. The Pyhä-Luosto aurora streams and FMI's all-sky cameras at Kilpisjärvi and Kevo show the night sky, but a camera sees only what is overhead at that moment, and clouds block it. Check the forecast in our aurora forecast guide first.

Streams belong to their operators and can go offline without notice. We embed a stream only when its owner has enabled embedding on YouTube, and link to everything else. Last checked 2 Nov 2026; we recheck monthly.
