About Finnish Lapland Guide
Finnish Lapland Guide is an independent travel guide to northern Finland, written by Aleksi Partanen.
Who writes it

I'm Aleksi. My mother's side of the family comes from Karesuvanto, the village on the Swedish border in Enontekiö.
I've lived up north several times: four or five winters, mostly in Ruka, one winter in Levi and one summer in Rovaniemi. I've also spent time in Ylläs, Saariselkä and Iso-Syöte, and I've been to Santa Claus Village many times. It's great, and in December it's very busy.
How we check facts
- Every material fact comes from a primary source: the operator, the park authority (Metsähallitus), the Finnish Meteorological Institute, Statistics Finland, Finavia, VR or the municipality. Each guide shows the date its facts were last checked.
- Prices appear only when the operator publishes them, with the date we checked and a link. Otherwise we tell you to check the current price.
- No affiliate links, no paid placements and no "best of" rankings.
- Our own data, such as polar-night dates and hotel price trends, is published with sources and CSV downloads on Lapland in numbers.

Journalists: I'm happy to be interviewed about travelling in Finnish Lapland, when to go, the polar night and winter costs, and to help find local voices for a story. Our data tables are free to use with a link.
Spotted something out of date or wrong? Tell me and I'll check it against the source and fix it.
